Accused (Troubled Boys, Strong Men Book 1) Page 27
“Yes, you did.”
Normalcy.
Finally.
Of course there were nerves, but nothing in comparison to what she’d been through over the last couple of weeks. Two weeks ago she wouldn’t have believed any of this would have been possible.
She hated what Travis had been through. Hated what she’d been through. But was the journey worth the end result?
Leaning against the seat behind her, she contemplated the thought. Would the scheme involving Dr. Stern ever have been uncovered if it hadn’t been for her, Sam and Cole? Probably not. Did Travis now have a true sense of himself and his own internal strength? Yes. Did she think that despite their rocky history, maybe she might reach some kind of peaceful coexistence with Archie? Anything was possible, she guessed. Would she have met Sam otherwise? Hmmmm. Besides Travis’ freedom, that had been the best part.
Before she could think any more about her good fortune, the crowd erupted in cheers as the players ran out onto the field. Jillian stood, tears at the corners of her eyes, as she spotted Travis trotting alongside Sam. Simultaneously they glanced up and gave her not a wave, but the quintessential male nod of acknowledgment.
Game face.
That’s what it was all about.
How could one woman be so darn lucky?
The end.
